I just thought I would have something about the town I live in. My home town is called Fort Smith, Northwest Terrritories. Fort Smith is on the Alberta/Northwest Territories border. The population is about 2,500 people. The mayor of Fort Smith is Peter Martselos. The member of the legislative assembly representing Fort Smith is the Honourable Michael Miltenberger Minister of Health and Social Services and Minister Of the Environment. The Northwest Territories Forest Fire Centre is located in Fort Smith. Also the headquarters for Wood Buffalo National Park and World Heritage Site is located in Fort Smith. Fort Smith is the headquarters for Aurora College. Some of the programs at Aurora College are Natural Resources Technology, Social Services, Management Studies, Office Administration, Teacher Education, Various Trade Course's, and Academic Studies. The Slave River runs on Fort Smith's northern border. On the Slave River there are some rapids called the Rapids Of The Drowned. Fort Smith has many recreational activities for the people to do. In summer they have swimming, hiking, and other activities. In winter there is hockey, figuare skating, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and other activities. Fort Smith has 3 hotels. The hotels are The Portage Inn, the Pinecrest Hotel, and the Pelican Rapids Inn. Fort Smith has 3 service clubs, they are the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Knights Of Columbus. The churches in Fort Smith are Anglican, Roman Catholic, Baptist, and Pentecostal. Fort Smith has an 9 Member Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police which is headed up by a sergeant. Fort Smith has an ambulance service and a volunteer fire department. Fort Smith has a museum which is called the Northern Life Museum. The museum has a boat in it's yard the Radium King a former Northern Transportation Company limited Tug boat.
